Active X Error - When I go to download PC Doc Pro my computer tells me that my current security settings don't allow ActiveX and the page will not be displayed - what do I do?

This error is fairly simple to get rid of - it just means that for some reason the settings in your browser (Internet Explorer) have been altered to block out the download process. (This is quite common under Windows XP Service Pack and Vista)

To change this simple setting and allow the download follow these steps:

i.) Go to "Tools" in the main menu of your browser - select "Internet Options" from the menu.

ii.) Make sure you click on the "Security" tab at the top of the next screen and then at the bottom of the "Security" screen you will see a button that says "Custom Level" - click on it.

iii.) In the list that appears you should see an option that reads "Download signed ActiveX controls" - this should be set to "Enabled" in order to receive the download.

Without this setting "Enabled" you will not be able to access most downloads including PC Doc Pro

In Service Pack 2/ Vista – you may need to select – Allow Access or Download, in a bar underneath the address window

Win 2000, XP and Vista Profiles

I have a number of different profiles (logins for different users) set up in Windows Vista (2000 or XP). When I scan on my profile PC Doc Pro works fine, but when someone else tries to use PC Doc Pro through their profile it doesn't work - what should I do?

Both Windows Vista and Windows XP use a system of "profiles" - or simply put, a separate login for different users giving them a customized desktop and file access.

In both Window Vista and XP you are able to grant any user what is deemed "Administrator" access. Each user who wants to run PC Doc Pro under their "profile" MUST have administrator access on the computer or PC Doc Pro will find errors but not fix them. This is because without "Administrator" access a person is restricted from accessing certain areas of the computer that PC Doc Pro must use to work effectively - thus "Administrator" access is a must.

In Windows XP the "Administrator" access can be controlled easily by going into the Control Panel and selecting the "User Accounts" option to view all of the current users.

When I run a scan in Windows Vista, why do the number of errors repeat themselves again or why I am asked to confirm each repair?

PC Doc Pro does request user permission in Windows Vista and Windows 7 before its run. This is quite normal and part of the Windows process in order for the program to be granted access.

If however you are getting request to confirm each repair, please ensure that you have administrator access on your PC.

If you are sure you have administrator access and the program still requests permission,  please go to your PC's Control Panel. Click on User Accounts (classic view if you have this selected)

Then please 'Turn User Account Control on or off'

(You may need to press Continue)

Please then uncheck the following option

'Use Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer'

You may then need to reboot your computer to allow these changes. After the program has fixed your registry, you may re-check this option from the control panel.

Should I continue using Scan Disk and Defragmenter?

We do recommend continuing to use ScanDisk and Disk Defragmenter periodically. Both of these in conjunction with PC Doc Pro will help to optimize your PC's performance.

A simple test is to run ScanDisk and then run PC Doc Pro. Most likely PC Doc Pro will locate errors that ScanDisk does not and vice versa. All three scan different areas of your computer and complement one another.

After I downloaded PC Doc Pro I was prompted to reboot my computer

You can safely reboot your computer if it prompted you to and PC Doc Pro will load with Windows when it starts back up. Unfortunately, we have little control on how the Windows Installer handles software on your computer so in some rare cases you may be prompted to "reboot" your PC so Windows fully recognizes the new software that has been installed.

Once your computer reboots, simply double-click on the PC Doc Pro icon on your desktop to load the program. You can then just click on the button to scan your computer for errors.
